Week 9 Ode to the SEC

Boomer Sooner, Littleton Won

It was a bittersweet weekend for our Week 9 winner. Andrew took his first victory of the 2011 season, but his Oklahoma Sooners may have destroyed their BCS title hopes with a loss at home to unranked Texas Tech. They have a chance, but it will take alot to get back to the head table.

That being said, we have a light week for games in the SEC. Since some teams have yet to make an appearance on the LATTICE blog this year, I thought it would be nice to do a mid-season tribute to the 12 SEC schools better half.

I had to give some props to Trent Richardson, who ended an Ole Miss player's season without even touching him.

Week 8

Week 7 welcomed yet another winner in Marc Spigel. In a miraculous last-minute turn of events, Marc beat out Travis for the CA$H. ASU dropped a sure TD vs. Oregon in the closing seconds, sealing a push for that game. That forced us to go to the tiebreaker for the GOW total points.

This week features yet another incredible SEC game with the LSU Bayou Bengals hosting the Auburn Tigers. There are no bye-weeks in the SEC, and this one could be a suprise. Auburn has won many close games this year, but they have yet to face a team like LSU. Can the War Eagles shock the world, or will the LSU Tigers keep on rolling towards the November 5th game @ Tuscaloosa ? Saturday night in Death Valley will feature more than some incredible football. The southern ladies will be out in full force for this rivalry, so these schools get the double-feature treatment.

The featured Thursday night game pits 2 teams who once were significant players in the Pac 12, but are now are has-beens on the gridiron. The reason there here is simple. They offer incredible amounts of eyecandy . Who's actually looking at the game anyways when you've got distractions like these ?

Finally Stanford plays a real team. I question Washington being a true Top 25 team, but they seem to have made it by default. Anyway, Heisman hopefull and future #! NFL pick Andrew Luck gets to show everyone what he looks like this year vs. a real team. There is no question both schools have equal ability to perform well off the field.

In what may become the only legitimate Big 10 game of the season, Wisconsin travels to Michigan State for what could be a great conference match-up. The battle of men may be a dud if the Badgers roll once again, but these schools are in a dead heat for the most talented women.

In a game that used to matter, the Notre Dame FIghting Irish host the USC Trojans. It doesn't seem that long ago that Brady Quinn and Matt Leinart were battling for national supremacy. Some horrible coaching hires and probation will always ruin a good time. However, these young lasses could perk up even the most downtrodden fans. Besides, it's only a game, right ?

Week 7

I am very grateful for the victory last week. To win in a 4-way tie scenario was even more unbelievable. And now to Week 7's highlights.

The Game of the Week features home dog #24 Auburn Tigers taking on the battered Florida Gators. UF rolls onto the Plains without their starting QB and 2 black eyes from being dominated by Alabama and LSU. Can they rebound this week on the road ? A few examples of why the best players want to attend SEC schools.

#23 Michigan State welcomes their bitter in-state rival #11 Michigan Wolverines. It may be cold in the fall in Michigan, but there is clearly some sunshine on these 2 campuses.

BCS Contender Oklahoma State travels to Austin, Tx to take on the wounded #22 Texas Longhorns. Even with all of the teams defecting the Big 12, they clearly have plenty left to offer.

Another good battle of ranked Big 12 ( -3 , +1) teams has #20 Baylor at #21 Texas A&M. Clearly the State of Texas develops alot of talent.

The true gem event of the night is the #9 Oregon Ducks hosting the #14 Arizona State Sun Devils. The PAC-12 schools boast some of the premiere college student bodies, and these 2 schools are amamzing on and off the field.

Week 6

The Gators travel from the Swamp to the Bayou ! With Brantley out, can LSU take care of business and beat Florida down, or will Les Miles eat a little grass covered in shit ?

Next we head to Dallas, for the annual Red River Shooutout at the Cotton Bowl. Clearly there is more action than just what happens on the field. As a 2 time participant of this great game, I can attest the talent in the parking lot rivals the SEC schools we hold dear to our hearts.

And of course Oregon Ducks have to get a shout out since they are the only ranked team playing on Thursday night, as they host the Cal Bears in Autzen Stadium.
